With changes in workforce involvement by women, the mission changed and it took on the role of promoting, enhancing, and supporting home building and women in the home building industry. It has grown to represent nearly 3,500 women who are actively involved in all aspects of the building industry—as owners, marketing experts, subcontractors, interior designers, real estate, and banking professionals. Reflecting the change in mission, a new name was approved by the NAHB Women’s Council Board of Trustees at the 2009 NAHB Spring Board meeting—the Board approved changing the name to NAHB Professional Women in Building Council (PWBC). At the North Carolina level, the Council had that name several years earlier and is the NC Professional Women in Building. Our local PWB Council was formed in 2007 and meets monthly to network, grow professionally, and serve our local community.
